Though there are thousands of species of mold out there, one common denominator amongst the majority of them is the fact that they all like to grow in dark, humid, and wet conditions. Nothing provides a better environment for this than your home’s crawl space. Since crawl spaces are built outside, beneath the house, they are usually exposed to the elements of nature such as melting snow, ice, and of course, rain and/or flooding. When this happens, your home’s crawl space absorbs the water vapor and circulates it through the house. However, when this happens, it also adds more moisture to the air, providing the seed for which mold can bloom.
